THE BRIDGE

This year the Golden Gate Bridge turned 75.
It only took four years to build, starting from 1933.
The color red was chosen so the bridge would be visible in the fog.
Sometimes that works.

Here are some fun facts about the Golden Gate Bridge that maybe you do not know. I didn't.

GOLD
There are about 600,00 rivets in each tower.
According to the legend, one is made out of gold.
One more reason to visit the Bridge: a treasure hunt!

RED
The most frequently posed inquires to the PR office pertain to the Bridge color's origin. The name and the code is "Pantone 180". I think I finally found a color for my dresser.

BABY
Since its inauguration at least three babies were born on the Bridge. The fourth could have been one of mine.

BAMBI
In the year 2004 the Bridge traffic came to a twenty minute stop because a deer was crossing the Bridge from Marin to San Francisco. Speed was not the issue, it took twenty minutes just to convince the dear to pay the toll.

BEEP-BEEP
In 2008 an ostrich got loose on the plaza. Some swear they saw Wile. E. Coyote going after him.
It is a Jungle up there.
